Girl Scout Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards
In 1980, Girls Scouts introduced the Girl Scout Gold Award (for Girl Scouts 14-18) as its highest honor, along with the Girl Scout Silver Award (for Girl Scouts 11-14). To receive these awards, girls must meet requirements that help them prepare for, and complete, a special project benefiting their communities. Based on requests from Junior Girl Scouts (ages 8-11), the Girl Scout Bronze Award was introduced in 2001. Today these three awards are a highlight of the Girl Scout experience.

Program Aide
Program Aide is open to any registered Girl Scout who has completed the sixth grade. The basic course is designed to foster the development of leadership skills and to give girls a basis for working with younger girls. Girls will learn how to plan and present age appropriate activities and use various problem solving strategies. An internship will follow where a girl chooses an age level and topic of interest and spends 25 hours planning and implementing a program to younger girls.

Girls receive a Program Aide pin after training and a Program Aide patch after the internship.

Ready to Become, Belong, Believe and Build
Older Girls Special Interest Groups

Girl Scouts ages 11-17 participate in Girl Scouting in many ways. Under the guidance of a trained adult advisor, girls mix and match activities and resources to suit their needs while giving back to their communities. They connect with others and build self0esteem and confidence in their skills as they work on a range of projects and gain valuable life experiences. To learn more about our Girl Scout groups, please contact Kim Reed at kreed@gscsnj.org.
